What is Sleep Apnea?

When throat muscles relax during sleep, the airway can narrow or close and breathing may pause repeatedly. This is called obstructive sleep apnea. In central sleep apnea the brain does not send the signals needed for breathing. Some patients experience a combination of both.

Common symptoms include: Loud snoring, Waking up choking or gasping, Daytime sleepiness, Morning headaches, poor focus, Irritability, frequent night urination.

Not everyone with sleep apnea snores, and symptoms can be subtle.

When appropriate, we offer same-day treatment.

When to Seek Treatment: Sleep apnea is linked with higher risks of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and car accidents due to daytime sleepiness. If you or a loved one has symptoms, please seek professional care.

How We Evaluate and Treat Sleep Apnea

Evaluation and follow-up work together to support effective, long-term sleep improvement.

01. Consultation & Screening

We review your symptoms, sleep concerns, medical history, and airway factors. This helps us understand what may be affecting your breathing at night.

02. Examination & Coordination

An oral exam is completed to assess your airway and jaw position. When needed, we coordinate a sleep study or work with your physician to guide next steps.

03. Custom Device Fitting

For appropriate cases, we take impressions or digital scans to create a custom oral appliance. Options may include a Medicare-approved Panthera device or a Silent Nite mouthguard for snoring-focused care.

04. Adjustment & Ongoing Support

We confirm comfort and effectiveness, make adjustments as needed, and provide simple home guidance. Routine follow-ups help ensure long-term comfort and improved sleep quality.
